Kurt Roy
I started recording when I was 11 years old. I had a windows computer with "Magix Music Maker 11 Deluxe" on it, and I've never looked back since. I'm still amazed at the recording process, and how everything comes together. I've been seriously recording for almost 10 years now, and it never gets old.
I started playing violin in middle school, and that turned into guitar, and bass, and piano. I started writing and recording my own songs, and eventually I started recording other people. It was a great way to pass the time in between writing songs about girls who dumped me. Eventually, I ended up working at a rad local studio in Michigan, and I learned a lot there. From Michigan, I went to Illinois and started as an intern at The Chicago Recording Company. There, I got to work with cool artists like Jeremih, and Cody Chestnutt from The Roots. I learned from amazing engineers like Chris Shepard and Jeff Lane. While in Chicago, I was also recording rad bands in my small apartment studio and learned a ton by trail and error. I've never stopped trying to be the best engineer I can be.
Fast forward a little, and I now live in Seattle. I love it here and I'm meeting cool musicians every weekend. I'm staying focused recording and mixing a ton of albums and enjoying the wonderful atmosphere of the PNW. I will not stop recording and mixing. It's something I love doing, and I hope my clients see that when they work with me. I get very behind the music they make, and I will sacrifice anything to have their vision come alive.
